As the clips moves on the younger girl Amy is shown as a dominanent and self controlled character, which isn't a way how older people like younger people to act.
As Amy and her carer had an argument, the camera angle shown was a shot reverse shot, the edit was shown in this way to show the conversation they was having and also conflict.
This doesn't show a stereotypical teenager, as minors are meant to show respect to their elders by not speak back.
Another part of the clip has been shot through a window. This shows that Amy has left and runaway.
This shows the audience that Amy is frightened and vulnerable and that she isn't as confident, old and brave as she thinks she is.
In the Monarch of the Glen the costumes the characters wear show how they differ in age. The younger girl Amy wears casual clothing, a colourful t-shirt and jeans, which is what the stereotypical teenager would wear.
By Amy wearing this it shows she is young and possibly free spirited.
The younger boy in the clip also wears rather casual clothing too, he wears a hoodie, polo t-shirt and jeans. This shows he is not the same age as the other men he works with, meaning he might not be as important.
The older men with in the clip wear clothing that is suitable to wear on a farm, but their clothing still makes them look smart and powerful.
The only older lady who is shown in the clip is a poshly dressed lady who is presented well, as she has very neat styled hair and makeup. She is portrayed as a wise motherly figure, who is consurned about Amys well fair.
The location of the clip shows an old fashioned manor and farm. From looking from the outside, the location seems rundown and dirty. But further into the clip the audience see the inside of the manor. Inside shows beautiful interior and wooden furnishings, I think the manor could have been passed down through out family members or owned by an older character.
This could be as older characters have lived longer, so could have more money.
The lighting is different in the clip depending on which characters are shown on screen.
When older characters are shown the lighting is rather dark. When younger characters are shown, for example Amy, the lighting is light and bright no matter where they are (inside or out).
I feel the lighting reflects on the ages of the character, by the dark showing the old and the bright showing the new.
There wasn't much of a soundtrack throughout the clip, with a Scottish jingle being played in small sections.
There was foley of a big loud crash when the cars collied into each other.
Some confusion here which I think relate to a lack of understanding or application of what stereitypes are you need to write about:
ReplyDelete"a stereotypical teenager, as minors are meant to show respect to their elders by not speak back."- this shows you have not prepared or revised the lesson and this will therefore hamper your exam performance
To improve:
You are predominantly describing what is there not - not giving reasons as to why, what meaning is attached to the Long Shot or Close Ups - how are we positioned with the characters? Why is the music so jolly when we see old people physically working - is this re-enforcing or challenging stereotypes? This is how you pick up the marks
You are still not using terminology, again I suspect you are not revising or preparing - wearing and clothes is costume.
There is a lack of analysis of editing - pace, shot rev shot etc. What about the crash (foley) - you must've heard this sound - isn;t it relevant? Is ity diegetic or non?
You are not using your mentor partner or the blog to prepare for these assessments - you must look at the exemplar material and work with Anna who is targeted for an A grade to support you.
